Great Replacement
“The Great Replacement” conspiracy theory made significant headway into the mainstream in 2021. The theory alleges that people of color are “replacing” white people through immigration, birth rates and other economic, social and political means. While the theory has existed for some time, it found new life this year as major media personalities like Tucker Carlson and elected officials, including Rep. Matt Gaetz, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Rep. Scott Perry, spread the hateful and dangerous conspiracy in 2021. Though the conspiracy is not inherently antisemitic, many white supremacists subscribe to the belief that “The Great Replacement” is being orchestrated by Jews, and the lie has inspired several horrific acts of mass violence against people of color and Jews around the world in recent years, including murder sprees in Pittsburgh, Poway, El Paso, Christchurch, New Zealand, and Buffalo. TradCatKnight
Eric Gajewski, better known on the Internet as TradCatKnight, is a traditionalist Catholic, antisemite, conspiracy theorist and doomsday prepper. He hosts a daily podcast that streams on his personal website, which is available only to paid subscribers, of whom Gajewski claims to have about 100,000. He uses his podcast to express his extremist views about Jews, Freemasonry and the so-called “New World Order,” all of which he also writes about in articles on his webpage. He regularly has extremist guests on his podcast, notably the virulent antisemites David Duke, Dave Gahary and Ayo Kimathi. Gajewski is particularly obsessed with the idea of alleged Jewish control over the media and government. He has written, “The Jews control nearly everything at this point,” and “The Jews have their celebrity puppets and politicians.” Gajewski also distorts Holocaust memory, writing, “[T]he Jews needed a ‘holocaust’ so they could get across their agendas and hide behind the farce of anti semitism [sic].” Definition from Anti-Defamation League.

Traditional Catholicism
Traditionalist Catholics reject the reforms of the Second Vatican Council that was held in the early 1960s, including Nostra Aetate, the papal document which declared that modern Jews bear no guilt for the death of Christ. The Vatican has also rejected the idea of supersessionism, or the dogma that with the coming of Jesus and the New Testament the Jews’ covenant with God was broken—but traditionalist Catholics continue to support this doctrine and believe that there is no salvation outside of the Catholic church. Partly as a result, some Traditionalist Catholic circles have continued to incorporate explicit antisemitism into their theology, and a number of them may be characterized by a paranoid belief in Jewish conspiracies to undermine the church and Western civilization, as well as other conspiracy theories that are prominent in right-wing extremist subcultures.
For decades after its founding in 1970, the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), which is the foremost global Traditionalist Catholic organization, continued to preach that contemporary Jews are responsible for deicide, endorsed the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and claimed that there was a factual basis for the medieval blood libel. One of its bishops, Richard Williamson, is a well-known Holocaust denier. In recent years SSPX has moderated its position to some extent, and expelled Bishop Williamson. However, the Traditionalist Catholic movement continues to wrestle with antisemitism and a tendency towards extremism.
One prominent Traditionalist Catholic is filmmaker and antisemite Mel Gibson, whose film, The Passion of the Christ, attracted controversy over its graphic depiction of Jewish responsibility for the death of Jesus.

Willis Carto
Willis Carto (1926-2015) was one of the most virulent antisemitic propagandists in the U.S. in the second half of the twentieth century. After emerging as a right-wing organizer in San Francisco in the early 1950s, he was associated with nearly every significant far-right movement in the country, from neo-Nazism to militias, and segregationism to Holocaust denial. He spread Holocaust denial and hatred against Jews through antisemitic, conspiracy-oriented publications such as The Spotlight, The Barnes Review and American Free Press. In 1979 Carto founded the Institute for Historical Review, which was the foremost Holocaust denial organization in the world for two decades. In speeches at IHR conferences, Carto called the Holocaust “atrocity propaganda”10 and a “malicious lie.”11 In 1969, one of the publishing companies that grew out of Carto’s far-right group, Liberty Lobby, published a book entitled The Myth of the Six Million. He also held conferences that featured well-known antisemites and Holocaust deniers. Definition from Anti-Defamation League.
